Primary 4 have just completed an animation as part of their Space project entitled “Alien Adventures”. To view the movie click the title below. You can also view the animation that last year’s Primary 4 class made entitled “Space Mission”. Please feel free to add any comments.

Hi Primary 4, what brilliant movies, congratulations. I don’t think I have seen such detailed backgrounds before.
The plasticise models were wonderful and moved very smoothly.
Could you tell me what equipment and software you use?

Just to say I really enjoyed watching your space animation this morning.I particularly liked the way the characters moved. The music and artwork was great too and all added to the effect.Well done - you must have worked hard as a team to do this.

Thanks for letting us know what you think about our animation. We had fun making it and we would really like to do another.
We started by designing the scenery, the characters and creating storyboards. We made the scenery out of paper and plaster of paris bandage. The characters were made out of wire,paper and plastiscene but the plants were made out of pipe cleaners, beads, foam, plastiscene and feathers. We used istopmotion software on an ibook with a digital video camera to film the action in groups. We had to be patient because this took a long time to make a few seconds of film. Then we added the sound and music to the film which was edited on imovie software.
We are really pleased with the result and we think all the effort was worth it!

Brilliant stuff! I wish there was a TV Orkney as well as Radio Orkney so that you show this everyone.
I loved the models - they’re very cute - and the way you have added the music and sound effects.
I wonder how long it would take to make a Wallace and Gromit cartoon?

Well done, Class 4! You have inspired Primary 4 in my school who are now planning a full scale Viking raid for their animation. They loved the fact that you created all your own music and are determined to give that a go to give their animation an authentic feel.

Well done Primary 4, your space animations are ‘out of this world’! You must have worked hard to put together all the pieces - story, sequence, characters, scenery, video camera shots and of course the music. I liked the way you used some instruments for special effects and it made me laugh when the green alien ate another alien?! The volcanic eruption was very atmospheric. When I saw the end credits it reminded me of Star Wars, my favourite film. Keep up the good work.
